The Build Communities Strong Fund Community stream (previously known as the Canada Community-Building Fund) provides funding for municipal infrastructure and capacity-building projects that support housing development, economic growth, community resilience and advance Canada’s net-zero goals.

Municipalities are encouraged to visit the Build Communities Strong Fund Community stream for municipalities webpage of the Department of Municipal Affairs for a full range of BCSF-CS information and resources, including a full list of what types of projects are eligible.

The federal government has committed $318.8 million to Nova Scotia via the Build Communities Strong Fund Community stream over the period of 2024-2029 for the construction and rehabilitation of essential local infrastructure such as local roads, bridges, water systems, and community centres. A new 10-year agreement was signed between the province and the federal government in 2024.
