Please see the invitation below, feel free to share with colleagues. Hope you can attend!
Dear Colleagues in public transit, municipal planning, provincial policy, housing, and development sectors in Nova Scotia:
I am writing to you today to inform you about an important project that the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) is undertaking, and I am inviting you to attend a virtual engagement session to provide input and feedback on our project recommendations.
Last fall, the federal government began consultations on the Permanent Public Transit Fund, and they have made it clear that they are focused on linking transit and housing policy outcomes. To that end, CUTA has retained Leading Mobility Consulting led by David Cooper, MCIP, RPP to develop a suite of policy recommendations for the federal government and the provinces that marry public transit and housing supply/affordability outcomes.
CUTA and the project team have been facilitating engagement sessions across the country so that transit agencies and key partners – including municipal planning officials, provincial/federal partners, developers, housing non-profits, and thought leaders in the housing sector – can provide input about how to best achieve goals of increasing housing supply, while at the same time, ensuring the sustainability and growth of our public transit systems across the country.
The five policy pillars for the project are:
- Catalyzing land for transit-oriented development
- Evolving the mandate of public transit agencies
- Ensuring inclusivity
- Streamlining planning processes
- Maximizing investment
We would like to invite you to an upcoming virtual engagement session on Wednesday, Sept 6th from 11 a.m. to 12:30 pm AST time.
The session will be on Zoom. Below is the Zoom meeting info:
- Meeting ID: 937 998 1716
- Passcode: 141617
We ask that you RSVP to this invitation by Tuesday, Sept 5th to confirm your attendance to David Cooper at david@leadingmobility.com
I would like to thank Councillor Pam Lovelace from the Halifax Regional Municipality for their assistance on this policy project.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best Regards,
David Cooper, MPl., MCIP, RPP
