Municipality of the County of Victoria

• Council approved the Pandemic Preparedness Plan for the continuation of essential operations during a pandemic.

• The Cape Breton Partnership is hosting Helping Businesses Respond During COVID-19, a webinar series on topics identified by our business community.

• Transfer Stations will close to the public. Only businesses and municipal collection vehicles will be given access to the sites. Residents are to use curbside collection services.

• New Haven Recycling Facility will be closed. Businesses with recyclable material are directed to use the Dingwall Transfer Station.

• Baddeck and New Haven Recycling Depots will remain closed.

• The Baddeck Transfer Station and Dingwall will be open for commercial entities and municipal collection vehicles only.

• Victoria County Transit, operated by Strait Area Transit (SAT) will suspend all service at the end of the day March 20, 2020 until further notice.

• The Courthouse and all municipal offices are closed to the public. Property tax payments and water payments can be made online or by Canada Post.

• The Tax sale planned for March 24, 2020 is postponed. Once a new date is decided, it will be posted at www.victoriacounty.com and in local newspapers.

• The volunteer awards dinner planned for April is cancelled.

• Items for the ReUse Centre will not be accepted until further notice.

• Water Utility operation will continue as normal, but staff will be minimizing public interactions.
