Town of Yarmouth

• The Town of Yarmouth has closed all parks, playgrounds, sports fields/courts, and trails until further notice.

• Town Hall is closed to the public until further notice.

• Water and tax payments can be completed through local banks/online banking.

• Residents are directed to online forms, traditional mail, or the telephone to conduct your business with the town until such time that a safe re-opening of Town Hall can occur.

• Town Hall staff will be working remotely, but public inquiries should still come through the usual phone numbers and email addresses.

• As of Monday March 23rd, parking tickets will be suspended, and the timelines on all outstanding parking tickets will not resume until Town Hall reopens and we can accept payment.• As we will be unable to sell passes and accommodate payment of tickets, we are suspending time violation parking enforcement activities until further notice.

• Effective immediately, presentations to Town Council are suspended and presentations will be scheduled after Council resumes public sessions.

• Town of Yarmouth Transit stopped all service on Wednesday, March 18th. Monthly pass holders will be credited for days when the service is unavailable, once service resumes.

• The Public Works building at 227 Pleasant Street is closed to the public.

• The Yarmouth Fire Department will operate as usual. However, the fire hall has been closed to the public and is only allowing essential visits. Staff and volunteers are only using the hall when an active call is in progress.

• Finance and Engineering staff will be working from home.

• Development, Building and Economic Development Services for permitting, site inspections, bylaw enforcement, economic incentives and request for information will have no interruption of service to the public. Residents can still apply for a Development and Building Permit online. Residents are to complete the application on-line, print it, sign, date and email to the Development Officer with the required supporting information. The Development Officer will work with the Building Official should a Building Permit need to be issued. Development and Building Permits will be emailed or faxed back to the applicant/owners with the original for follow by regular mail when we are able.

• The Yarmouth County Solid Waste Park is closed to the public effective Friday March 20th, 2020. The Waste Park will also be closed on Saturdays until further notice.

• Effective immediately, taxi licences will be extended for a period of 30 days. For those expiring at the end of March, the expiration date will now be effective April 30.

• The By-law Enforcement department is still working and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Staff are still responding to complaints; however, the officers have been advised not to enter homes and to use social distancing. They have been provided with appropriate PPE to do their job effectively and safely.
